TaeKwonDo Tidbits by Master Erica Linthorst

TaeKwonDo Tidbits Master Erica Linthorst

Giving form meaning
The eighth (8th) form we learn (color belt Pal-gwe pal-jang, black belt T'ae-guk pal-jang) represents the Gon which stands for Earth. The earth is receptive and nurturing. It hugs and grows everything in silence and in strength. The form teaches us the importance of the life force within each of us and to respect life in all its forms.

Language we use

an-nyong haseyo hello, greetings
an-yong kehseyo goodbye (you say this when you are leaving)
igo ch'am kunsa-hagunyo! wonderful! teriifc!

Philosophically speaking
One of the most important lessons Grand Master teaches us is both respect for
and appreciation of the world around us. The following is from the book The Art
of Worldly Wisdom
written in Spanish by Balthasar Gracian (1637):

Find the good in a thing at once... There is nothing that has no good in it.

Gain people?s goodwill.

Never lose your self-respect.

Let your behavior be fine and noble.

Do pleasant things yourself.

Know how to appreciate.

Do good a little at a time but often.
